Without a shadow of a doubt, it was a gutsy call.
Approaching the final weekend of the regular campaign and with a critical opening round playoff series just days away, St. Thomas Stars’ owner and GM Joe Daniels made a huge coaching change.
The move appeared to pay immediate benefits with Daniels behind the bench as they won the first two games of a stretch of three games in four nights this weekend.
Heading into the final weekend of the regular GOJHL season, the Stars had a lock on seventh place and a playoff berth.
But Daniels says the shakeup was needed to get the team back on a winning track.
Prior to the coaching shuffle, the Stars were riding a five-game losing skid.
Not a decision taken lightly, Daniels tells myFM.
Their final game is at home to Leamington tonight (Sunday).
The Stars enter the playoffs next week against either St. Marys or London with Daniels and Brady Elder behind the bench.
