Businesses come in seasons, as is life sometimes – but when the spark of something you love doesn’t go away – sometimes a shift is needed, and you take a leap all over again – which is what Daynna Tully chose to do in rebranding her business in 2023.
Daynna’s love for knitting started as a child, sitting for hours with her grandmother as she knit while Daynna worked away on her loom.
In adulthood, with four growing boys, Daynna wanted to expand her skills and making adorable knits for the boys made her so happy! People took note of the boys in their toques and requests started to come in. It was the start of Smitty Knitty – all handmade, natural wool toques.
The business grew with the support received from the community; Daynna expanded from Instragram orders to working local markets and operating an online store.
At the height of the business, Covid hit, followed by significant personal changes. It was time to pause and regroup what it all meant. But that spark didn’t fade, and she’s back as Tully Toques.
Rebuilding has also taken on a new meaning for Daynna and allowed her to take what she’s learned and loves about social media, marketing and business into other pursuits. She is even returning to school to continue learning more! She says, “Being fully submerged in our local community is amazing! I’m so excited to rebuild my business and give a fresh look to a long-time local business as well.”
