The impact of an Ontario Trillium Foundation grant received last spring was showcased Friday at the STEAM Education Centre in St. Thomas.
The $145,900 in funding helped the centre recover from the impacts of COVID-19.
Part of the money was used to digitize existing programming and upgrade the website, explains program manager Denise Love.
On hand for the celebration was Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Rob Flack who noted the grant allows the programs to be accessible to more students.
An important pathway at the STEAM Education Centre is their Indigenous programming.
Known as iSTEAM, it blends Indigenous ways with STEAM skills through translation of key materials into three local First Nation languages.
Love explains how Indigenous programming is benefitting from Trillium funding received last spring.
She tells myFM about a positive spin-off from the pandemic.
Flack noted the STEAM Education Centre gives students opportunities to explore and become engaged in their learning process.
