A St. Thomas man accused of throwing gravel at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau during a campaign stop in London has pleaded guilty to a charge of common assault.
Shane Marshall pleaded guilty to the lesser charge on Tuesday after first facing a charge of assault with a weapon.
Trudeau was boarding a campaign bus after a stop that was disrupted by a protest in September 2021.
The prime minister, who was campaigning at the time as Liberal party leader, was not hurt.
At the time, Marshall was People’s Party of Canada riding association president in Elgin-Middlesex-London.
