The Brier in London is over for a Strathroy resident with a St. Thomas connection.
Jake Higgs led Team Nunavut during the tournament and says he’s thankful for the effort they put in.
Team Nunavut finished this year’s Brier out of the playoffs with a 1 and 7 record.
Higgs started curling at the Ilderton Curling Club, and was given the opportunity to curl with Team Nunavut 8 years ago when he was offered the spot as an import player when he was an alternate with Team Ontario.
When he’s not curling, Higgs teaches math at at Arthur Voaden Secondary School.
He says his rink went into the tournament drinking from a glass half full.
Higgs enjoyed his family’s support while playing at Budweiser Gardens.
He advises overall he leaves Budweiser Gardens with great memories.
Higgs previously skipped the team in 2020 in Kington just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Higgs and Team Nunavut opened their 2023 Brier campaign with a historic win over Team Newfoundland and Labrador earlier this week . . . the first-ever Brier win in its seven-year history participating.
