As we prepare for Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, the St. Thomas Fire Department encourages residents to take the time to check the batteries in smoke alarms.
The time change serves as a great reminder notes Chief Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun, who also advises when alarms should be replaced.
If you do not have working smoke alarms and need either technical or financial assistance in making sure your residence is properly equipped, reach out to the St. Thomas Fire Department.
Destun reminds residents to also check in on elderly relatives to make sure their homes are properly equipped. Also offer to help them if they are unable to change the batteries on their own.
