Ontario’s Minister of Education Stephen Lecce says he’s preparing kids for the jobs of tomorrow.
The province will implement a new high school graduation requirement next fall aimed at preparing students for the jobs of tomorrow.
Lecce said 300 thousand jobs in construction, manufacturing, computer technology, hospitality and communication are waiting for workers.
The jobs of tomorrow, according to Lecce, will require science, technology, engineering, math and skilled trades.
Lecce said more young women need to consider these fields of study.
Starting in 2024, all students will be required to earn a grade 9 or 10 technologial education credit as part of their diploma.
