A new and unique opportunity for St. Thomas residents to delve into the world of Truth and Reconciliation is coming to our local library.
Presented by Tracey Whiteye and Mary-Anne Kechego, the upcoming Learning and Sharing Circles Series will give those who are interested in learning more about Truth and Reconciliation and the experiences of Indigenous peoples, the chance to do so through a 4 week series.
Dana Vanzanten, Manager of Programming and Community Development at the St. Thomas Public Library explains what will take place during each uniquely themed series.
And if you’ve never participated in a Learning and Sharing Circle in the past, Vanzanten breaks down the exercise.
Week one will focus on the theme of Stolen Lands, Strong Hearts, kicking off this Saturday, April 8th from 2 to 4 p.m. Future themes include-They Came for the Children, The Churches, the Apologies, and Indigenous Spirituality and Calls to Action and Signs of Hope.
Vanzanten adds that she hopes to see the community take full advantage of this amazing opportunity.
The sessions will take place at the St. Thomas Public Library at 153 Curtis Street, in the Carnegie Room, Lower Level. The Learning and Sharing Circles series is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
