The St. Joseph’s Catholic High School Renaissance Robotics team will join over 800 other teams from roughly 40 different countries next week as they get set to compete in the 2023 VEX Robotics World Championships in Dallas, Texas.
It’s a massive deal for the local high school who will be one of 10 Ontario teams representing Canada on the world stage when they compete in the Engineering Division.
Teacher and Mentor Kathy Cepo explains how exciting of a time it is for the hardworking group of students.
For those unfamiliar with VEX Robotics, it’s a new game every year. Cepo goes over the premise of ‘Spin Up’, the game for 2023!
myFM also had the chance to speak with team captain Ryder Denison, who explains what goes into getting a robot game ready each season.
And their hard work has paid off, with Co-captain Kayleigh Baker noting the excitement goes well beyond the bounds of their team members.
Denison says that at this time, work continues to get the robot in top shape for worlds which gets underway April 25th.
Once they arrive in Dallas, captain Kayleigh Baker will actually help kick the entire competition off as the official representative for Canada!
And despite the outcome next week, the season isn’t actually over for the Renaissance Robotics team as Denison explains.
Baker helps elaborate.
Congratulations to the St. Joseph’s Catholic High School Renaissance Robotics team on such a successful season thus far, and good luck on the world stage!
The 2023 VEX Robotics World Championships run April 25th to 27th in Dallas, Texas.
