Talks were set to continue over the weekend between the federal government and the union representing the roughly 155-thousand striking public servants.
Negotiations have so far been mired in miscommunication and finger pointing, as both sides fail to find a middle ground on key issues.
Salaries have been top of mind at the table, with the union pushing for annual raises of 4.5 per cent over the next three years.
The Treasury Board says it has offered the union a nine per cent raise over three years on the recommendation of the third-party Public Interest Commission.
The union plans to disrupt access to ports on day six of the job action in order to have a greater impact on the government.
