An encounter Friday with a tree has branched out into numerous charges against a 46-year-old St. Thomas man.
He struck the tree on Chestnut Street west of Fairview Avenue and when police arrived they suspected he was impaired by alcohol.
He was treated in hospital for injuries. Investigation revealed he was a suspended driver and had breached conditions.
He was charged with impaired driving, operation of a vehicle while prohibited, driving while suspended, driving with no interlock ignition device and two counts of failing to comply.
