It’s been designated a one-way street since the 1950s, but as of Wednesday this week, John Street is now bi-directional due to Talbot Street reconstruction.
At the April 17th council meeting, members approved a recommendation from staff to make the move permanent.
Parking would be allowed on the east side of the roadway only. Staff also recommended no left turns from John Street on to Talbot due to restricted visibility.
Justin Lawrence, director of environmental services, assured council it has the ability to revert John Street back to one-way traffic if required in the future.
