This Saturday in Hamilton, some of the top Canadian university football players will be showcasing their skills in the U-Sports East-West Bowl.
Taking to the turf at Ron Joyce Stadium will be Craig Coleman of St. Thomas.
myFM spoke with the Western University Mustangs’ running back about his reaction to the selection.
He was a member of the 2019 Vanier Cup winning Western Mustangs and he will be out to impress CFL scouts.
He tells myFM when he learned of his selection for the game, he quickly contacted Parkside Stampeders’ coach Jayson Congdon.
Congdon says Coleman has that rare combination of talents that has got him to where he is one of the top Canadian university football players.
Coleman graduated from Parkside Collegiate Institute with two scholarships and is one of six Mustangs competing Saturday in Hamilton.
He’ll be vying for a spot on the CFL Scouting Bureau Top 20 Prospects List.
myFM asked Coleman if he had a preference when it comes to a CFL team.
He’s a business/accounting student at King’s College and he explains he is keeping all his options open for the future.
The East-West Bowl was initiated in 2003 and is organized with the help of the Canadian University Football Coaches Association, in partnership with the Canadian Football League.
The event brings together over 90 of the top U Sports football players for a week of practices and a combine evaluation camp, culminating with the annual prospects game.
Kick-off is 4 p.m. Saturday and tickets are available at www.marauders.ca/tickets
