A St. Thomas man’s planned golf outing proved far more rewarding than anticipated.
Thirty-three-year-old Travis Parkin won $50,000 with Instant Golden Jackpot.
He went to the Family Mart on Talbot Street to buy a drink and asked the clerk to choose a ticket for him. Turned out to be a winner.
“He chose the winner for me,” enthused Parkin.
“I thought it was a joke, I couldn’t believe it.”
He called his wife, who was in Florida at the time, to share his big news.
“She was in disbelief and kept saying, ‘No you didn’t win!’ After I sent her a picture of the ticket, she realized it was real and was shocked.”
The father of two says he will invest the winnings in savings plans for his daughters’ education.
