As we approach the first long weekend of the summer, the Ontario Provincial Police have some reminders for drivers to help keep everyone in the community safe.
OPP Media Relations Officer Jeff Hare says that they will be out in full force, monitoring a variety of infractions.
Although infractions are not exclusive to long weekends, Hare says that there is definitely a notable uptick.
If a member of the public spots someone they suspect is impaired, they should call 911 if it is safe to do so as it does constitute an emergency, and immediate threat to public safety.
Hare says that the biggest thing the motoring public needs to do is slow down, and that at the end of the day it’s all about keeping everyone in the community safe.
