The union representing Ontario elementary teachers says school violence is disrupting classes and can be traced back to an under-funded and under-resourced education system.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario says a survey commissioned of its members earlier this year found three-in-four have been personally subjected to violence or seen it against another member.
According to the survey, 42 per cent of the union’s member have suffered a physical or psychological injury or illness related to workplace violence against them this school year.
