The city is seeking financial assistance from the federal government to clean up brownfield sites scattered throughout the city.
In a letter sent to MP Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities, Mayor Joe Preston stresses the numerous sites create significant environmental, economic, and social impacts in the community.
Preston would like to see direct funding from the feds for brownfield remediation to create opportunities for redevelopment in a safe, green and sustainable manner.
