A fire ban in effect for St. Thomas and all of Elgin county has been lifted as of noon today.
St. Thomas Fire Chief Dave Gregory tells myFM significant rainfall yesterday was behind the decision to remove the ban, in effect since June 6.
Several myFM listeners wondered should the ban remain in effect through the month of June, what impact might that have on Canada Day fireworks?
He adds the issuance of burn permits will resume across Elgin county.
