The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation is embarking on an $8 million Transforming Tomorrow Diagnostic Imaging Campaign in support of a long-awaited MRI for the city.
It received a kick start late last month when the Port Stanley Lions and Lioness Club, presented the hospital with a $16,000 donation towards the MRI-Diagnostic Imaging Campaign.
Executive Member Dave Marr explains that the funds raised for the hospital is courtesy of their annual golf tournament, which made its return for a 13th year.
While this is the first time the donation has gone towards the MRI campaign, Marr notes that STEGH has been the recipient of golf tournament funds since its inception.
myFM also had the chance to speak with Jeff Yurek, who after working with the province as our then MPP to secure government funding, is now Chair of the MRI-Diagnostic Imaging Campaign. He notes how important this technology will be for our residents.
Yurek adds how vital donations like the one from the Port Stanley Lions and Lioness Club will be to this campaign.
After such a successful golf tournament and impactful donation, Marr adds that they are so grateful to everyone who helped make it happen.
Roughly $170,000 has now been donated to the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital Foundation thanks to the annual Port Stanley Lions and Lioness Club Golf Tournament.
