The Kettle Creek Conservation Authority is giving residents the chance to take up a new hobby with the return of their Learn to Fish program.
This free, fun filled event taking place at Dalewood Conservation Area on Saturday and Lake Whittaker Conservation Area on Sunday, introduces kids, teens and adults alike to the world of fishing.
The two-hour program combines a one-hour practical teaching session with one hour of supervised hands-on fishing, and supplies all the gear and proper licences needed.
The Learn to Fish program will be split up into two sessions, with first beginning at 10 a.m. and the second at 1 p.m.
The KCCA notes that the program will teach you how to:
- rig, bait and cast a fishing rod
- identify and catch local fish species
- get a fishing licence and follow fishing regulations
- discover more about fishing in Ontario
- fish safely and sustainably
And you’ll be provided with everything you need, including:
- experienced instructors focused on fish, fun and safety
- fishing rod, reel and bait
- a fishing licence to take part in the Learn to Fish program
- lifejacket and sunglasses
