Elgin OPP have charged a 38-year-old London man in a stolen vehicle incident Tuesday morning in Central Elgin.
Just after 7 a.m., officers received a complaint about a transport truck southbound on Belmont Road.
Shortly after, a two-vehicle collision was reported near the intersection of Belmont Road and Helkaa Line.
Police determined the truck – reported stolen to Middlesex OPP – drove into the ditch and a second vehicle was also in the ditch after trying to avoid hitting the truck.
The truck driver – Heng Khao – ran from the scene but was quickly apprehended. No injuries were reported.
Khao was charged with:
· Theft over $5,000 of a motor vehicle
· Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
· Failure to stop after accident
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood drug concentration
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
