For the 3rd year in a row, local farmer and cancer survivor Jay Curtis is giving back to local hospitals through his “Sunflowers for Hope” fundraiser.
Three years ago now, Curtis was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, a journey he says was full of excellent care and treatment thanks to the team at London Health Sciences Centre.
But as a resident of Elgin County, Curtis has spent the past two summers supporting his local hospital, with all money raised through “Sunflowers for Hope”, benefiting the Chemotherapy Unit at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
He notes that funds raised last year roughly doubled from 2021.
And it’s an exciting time as the acre and a half of sunflowers planted on his farm in mid May, are now in peak form for viewing.
Residents are encouraged to visit the farm and experience the sunflowers in full bloom, take a flower, snap some photos and donate in support of the cause.
Curtis adds that a cash donation box has once again been set up on site, with online donations available here.
Be sure to visit the sunflower field located across from 44305 Mapleton Line in St. Thomas before mid August!
