Lighting up a cigarette can be dangerous to your health in more ways than one.
On Friday, St. Thomas police were called to a St. Catharine Street residence to assist firefighters and EMS with what was reported as an explosion.
Upon arrival, it was determined an accidental explosion had occurred when residents of the address spilled butane fluid while refilling a lighter.
Unaware of the spilled fluid, another resident lit a cigarette in the same area resulting in the explosion.
Minor injuries were reported with no major damage to the residence.
