A 26-year-old St. Thomas resident has been charged with one count Arson – Disregard for Human Life following an incident in a south side neighbourhood Thursday.
Police say they were called by a homeowner who reported that a person known to them ignited an article of clothing and threw it on the deck of their home, while they, their children and pets were inside.
The residents of the home were notified of the fire by their security cameras, which was able to be quickly extinguished.
After reviewing the security footage, St. Thomas Police confirmed the identity of the suspect who was located a short distance away.
The 26-year-old was also charged with Failure to Comply with Probation before being released to London Police for an outstanding warrant.
