We always seem to mention the dogs days of summer during August, referencing the hottest and most humid period of the year. But what about the actual dogs who just want a chance to cool off in this heat?
Well they’ll have the opportunity this Sunday when the city and Jaycee’s Pool host their 5th Annual Pooch Plunge beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Aquatics Supervisor Will Shoukri explains how they shut off the chlorine and open up Jaycee’s to just the dogs.
Shoukri notes that the Pooch Plunge will be divided into two different session, with admission being $5 per dog.
And this year, Jaycee’s has partnered with Global Pet Foods in St. Thomas to provide some treats for the dogs in attendance.
As far as the remainder of this week goes, Shoukri says that following a small issue at the pool on Tuesday, all programs will be carried out as normal.
Following the Pooch Plunge this Sunday, Shoukri notes the pool will close for the season, and thanks the community for their support this summer.
Shoukri adds that thanks to the success of their Aqua Fit Classes, they will be back next year in addition to some other programs they hope to create in the off season.
