Five weeks after a sprawling homeless encampment was dismantled behind Memorial Arena, police and city employees were back on the scene.
Saturday morning, they attended the site on the former Victor Dana property after reports a new encampment was being developed.
According to St. Thomas Police, no individuals were on the scene, however signs of an encampment were visible.
Later in the morning, a man was scene loading items into a shopping cart.
A violent assault at the site on July 18 led to officials quickly shutting down the sizeable encampment. Four St. Thomas residents were arrested in relation to the violent assault.
At that time, Police Chief Marc Roskamp advised stolen property was recovered on the site with the hope it can be returned to the owners.
He added, the camp offered “zero opportunity for moving out of homelessness.”
