Some great news for local parents as school bus services across St. Thomas and Elgin County are expected to roll smoothly this year.
With lack of available drivers and an increase in driver absenteeism due to COVID-19 and other illnesses impacting routes over the past few years, Kevin Murray, Branch Manager at First Student Canada in St. Thomas notes he doesn’t anticipate any hiccups this time around.
But he also notes how lucky they are to be sitting pretty as of early August, while many other companies continue to struggle to find drivers.
And that’s great news with such a large area that First Student now covers.
Murray adds that when drivers are there each and every day for our students, it has a big impact on the success of their school school year.
As bus routes and times can change each year, you are encouraged to visit the Parent Portal at mybigyellowbus.ca to confirm details for next week.
Murray also provided some very important school bus safety tips, which will be shared next week as we put a big focus on back to school.
