It’s the first day of school for many local students and the Aylmer Police are joining area services by increasing their presence around school zones.
“Project Safe Start” will run throughout the month of September, as officers patrol school zones within the Town of Aylmer and focus on aggressive and distracted drivers.
They’ll be on the look out for speeding, seatbelt use, stop sign and school bus violations and cell phone use while driving.
Aylmer Police will implement a two phase approach which will consist of education and enforcement efforts to ensure children’s safety.
The hope of the high visibility campaign is that it will positively affect driver behaviour in and around school zones throughout the year and have overall lasting safety benefits to members of the community.
