The trial of a man accused of hitting a Muslim family with his truck in London, Ontario heard that he asked a cab driver to call 911 right after the 2021 attack, saying he had intentionally struck several people.
Nathaniel Veltman then got out of his vehicle, kneeled on the ground and put his hands behind his head as police arrived, jurors heard.
Jurors saw video on Tuesday of Veltman’s arrest and listened to the 911 call, during which he told the operator that he crashed into the family on purpose.
Veltman, who has pleaded not guilty, is accused of murdering four members of the Afzaal family as they were out for a walk.
Prosecutors have alleged his actions amount to an act of terrorism.
The trial is set to continue today.
