Two city residents have been arrested after assaulting a church employee Monday morning.
The two individuals were loitering on the Talbot Street property and refused to leave.
The employee was allegedly spat on, threatened and then punched by the pair.
An employee at a nearby business came to intervene and the two accused took off.
The victim was able to snap photos of the suspects.
Just after 6 that evening, St. Thomas Police responded to the plaza at First Avenue and Elm Street after receiving a complaint of a person waving around a large knife. That’s where police identified the suspects involved in the assault and they were arrested.
Shaylee Murphy has been charged with assault. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters where she was processed and released on an undertaking with a future court date.
Nicolas Derbowka has been charged with assault, uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm and failure to comply with probation order. He was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and held for a court appearance.
As a result of the court appearance, Derbowka was remanded into custody.
