Minimum wage workers in Ontario just got a raise — but critics say it doesn’t come close to accounting for the cost of living.
The base hourly pay went from $15.50 an hour up to $16.55.
It’s a jump of 6.8 per cent, tied to inflation.
Labour advocates and opposition critics have said Ontario should introduce a $20 minimum wage, with Ontario Living Wage Network noting living wage in the Greater Toronto Area is around $23 an hour.
