Effective Wednesday, mandatory masking is returning to patient care areas at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
This will apply to staff, physicians and volunteers.
Patients and visitors are required to wear a mask in waiting rooms and when interacting with health care providers.
Masks are not required in public spaces at the hospital but are strongly recommended.
Outpatients with respiratory symptoms must wear a mask at all times in the hospital.
Masks will be available at main entrances and in care settings.
Patients and visitors are required to sanitize their hands when entering the hospital and visitors who are feeling unwell should refrain from visiting until they are well.
According to Southwestern Public Health, these changes align with Public Health Ontario’s guidance as well as other hospitals in the South West region.
