It’s small business week, a national celebration of Canadian entrepreneurs.
myFM and the Small Business Enterprise Centre have partnered once again this year to share the stories of our small business owners.
Today we salute Sarah Cummings and Skate of the Art.
Located in St. Thomas at 1250 Talbot Street, the new shop specializing in both figure and roller skating, has been open for business for just over 3 weeks now.
Owner Sarah Cummings notes they offer of a number of products and services to those in the skating world.
Such as her website states, becoming a skate sharpener was a retirement dream that came earlier than expected for Cummings. She explains why she choose now to take a journey into the business world.
When deciding to take on the venture, Cummings knew she wanted to offer the best quality possible to residents of St. Thomas and Elgin County. That’s when she reached out to Joe Baker, who clients include some major names.
With sharpening being a large part of their offerings, Cummings says a partnership with SkateSkan has only been a benefit.
And while having the best quality sharpen to your skates will help you fly out on the ice, Skate of the Art can also help you look fly with their ever evolving inventory of dresses and accessories.
But if the cold weather or arenas aren’t really your thing, Cummings says she is always looking for more people to share her passion of roller skating with.
She adds that with less than a month of business under her belt, she is already blown away by the local support.
You can stay up to date with Skate of the Art through their Facebook and Instagram pages, with appointment bookings available at skateoftheart.ca.
