We’re just under two month into the new school year, and I’m sure some of the parents out there have experienced a few mornings where someone in the house has woken up on the wrong side of the bed.
Maybe it happened just this morning following a late night of trick-or-treating and few too many sweets before bed.
Local Author Allison Hamilton is helping families deal with these big feelings through the release of her first children’s book “The Right Side of the Bed.”
As Hamilton notes, most of us can relate to how the young character Zayn is feeling- He’s too tired and doesn’t want to get out of bed.
Will he overcome his mood and make the best of his day, or will he remain grumpy and miserable? Hamilton says the book really helps put those feelings into perspective.
And while this is a children’s book, the message is an important one for all.
Adding that parents have to be leaders in their children’s lives.
And she did just that by showing her kids that anything is possible if you set your mind too it.
Hamilton, who took up writing in addition to her full time job and coaching responsibilities with the St. Thomas Panthers notes it wasn’t always an easy process.
But practicing what you preach is important to her says Hamilton.
For those also wanting to branch out and try something new, Hamilton explains how her writing journey began.
And now “The Right Side of the Bed” has been brought to life, with the assistance of British Illustrator Luella Jane Wright.
