Preventing crimes before they can occur is always the best way to keep our communities safe. That’s the message during Crime Prevention Week running November 5th to 11th.
It’s a partnership between the Ministry of the Solicitor General and the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police, which sees police services across the province reach out to their communities to highlight the importance of crime prevention as a means to achieving safer and healthier communities for everyone.
The St. Thomas Police are among local services asking residents to think about what they can do to keep their families, neighbourhoods, schools, and workplaces safe from criminal activities.
Samantha Wakefield, Corporate Communications Coordinator explains further.
The annual campaign sees a specific focus each year, with Wakefield sharing the theme for 2023.
As Wakefield mentioned, Awareness, Engagement, and Prevention can come in a number of forms. She explains how the St. Thomas Police will be using their website and social media pages to highlight some of the things we can do as a community to help prevent crimes.
Be sure to follow along each day this week as the STPS share different way in which we can help prevent crime, with Monday’s focus being “Lock it or Lose it.”
