The holiday spirit shown by the community has been overwhelming down at Christmas Care!
Since 1980, they’ve been assisting lower-income individuals and families with food and gift hampers to help make Christmas Day complete.
Richard Auckland, 2023 Christmas Care President notes that still rings true today, with more being added to the hampers as the need grows.
With countless collection drives undertaken by residents, businesses, and community groups these past few weeks, local residents who need an extra hand around the holiday season will surely receive it.
You are reminded that registration for the local program wraps up Friday, December 8th at 4 p.m. as they begin to prepare for distribution.
Those still interested can stop by the Memorial Arena this week between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to get themselves and their family registered for a hamper.
Auckland noted that for anyone unsure about the process or for those such as seniors who may need further assistance with registration, to please reach out.
Hamper deliveries are then set to begin December 14th and wrap up on the 20th.
Those still wishing to support Christmas Care can drop off donations right up until December 20th.
All toys that don’t make their way into a hamper will be utilized next year, with all extra food donations being delivered to local food banks and food providing programs across St. Thomas and Elgin.
