Families looking to choose a real Christmas tree as the centrepiece of their holiday decorations should make a decision very soon as the demand is growing.
Christmas Tree Farmers of Ontario (CTFO) executive director Shirley Brennan says the group is seeing an uptick in younger families choosing real trees, which is why the demand is now so high and continues to grow each year.
She says the trend began during the COVID-19 pandemic, when fewer people were travelling during winter months and choosing to go their local farms to buy real trees.
The CTFO is a non-profit organization funded by farmers in the business of growing Christmas trees as a cash crop.
According to their website their aim is, “to provide, through co-operative effort and the exchange of experience, practical solutions for many of the problems concerning the production, marketing and retailing of Ontario-grown Christmas trees.”
