Christmas came early for the St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank who found out late last week just how much was raised through the inaugural Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie campaign.
$15,196 will benefit our local food bank just when they need it most- thanks to the support of residents of St. Thomas and the 7 Tim Hortons restaurants who collected for the cause.
Franchisee Diane Stewart presented the cheque on behalf of her team and fellow owner Brian Tisdelle to food bank General Manager Karen McDade on Thursday, noting how blown away they were by the outcome.
Operations Manager Brenda Stoddart echoed those remarks and shared just how great it was to see the local support.
Adding that an extra special holiday campaign was the perfect reminder of what this season is all about.
The St. Thomas Elgin Food Bank has already reached an all time high in terms of individuals served this year.
While speaking before the campaign kicked off, McDade noted that the food bank could reach up to 18,000 to 19,000 individuals served by year end- numbers they never thought they’d see.
During the cheque presentation, McDade noted that 20,000 may have to be the new figure as over 18,000 individuals have already been served as of early December.
