With the Christmas season now in the rearview, some local municipalities are letting you know where and how to dispose of your fresh trees.
In St. Thomas, Christmas trees can no longer be left on the curb for collection and must be taken to the Community Recycling Centre to be disposed of free of charge. They are currently operating on part time hours of Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Municipality of Dutton Dunwich remind residents that unwanted trees can be dropped off at the Public Works Building at 136 Currie Rd, Dutton, to later be recycled into wood chips by January 9th.
The Township of Malahide will see a similar operation, with 2 locations for residents to drop off trees between January 1st and 5th. Drop off locations include 12105 Whittaker Road, Springfield (Malahide Community Place) or the municipal land south of the Port Bruce Welcome sign.
The Town of Aylmer will also be offering a designated Christmas Tree Drop-off Depot, located in the Parks & Recreation Department Parking Lot at 8 Parkview Heights until to Friday, January 5th.
If you live in the Municipality of Central Elgin, you can drop your tree off from January 2nd to 14th, at your choice of the Belmont Arena (14020 Belmont Road), Port Stanley Arena (332 Carlow Road) or the White Station Building (42343 Fruit Ridge Line).
You are reminded that all decorations, lights, wrapping, plastic bags and tree stands must be removed before disposal.
