While it was a tough overtime loss for the Ottawa franchise of the Professional Women’s Hockey League, St. Thomas native Lexie Adzija had quite the debut last night.
She recorded her first assist and point of the regular season, off a third period goal by Katerina Mrazova in front of a record breaking crowd.
The game against Montreal at TD Place Arena in Ottawa saw the largest attendance in Professional Women’s Hockey, with 8318 fans packing the seats.
Ottawa did fall to Montreal 3-2 in overtime, following a quick goal from Ann-Sophie Bettez just 1:04 into extra time.
Adzija and Ottawa will return to action on Monday night when they take on Boston on the road. Puck drop is set for 6!
St. Thomas hockey fans can also tune in Friday night at 7 when native Brittany Howard and Toronto look for redemption against New York, following their 4-0 loss in their opener on Monday.
