Demolition began this morning on the apartment building at the corner of Hiawatha and Owaissa streets that suffered a partial collapse on Dec. 27.
Eight residents of the structure were displaced and have not been able to recover any of their possessions.
Two adjacent homes were also evacuated as a precaution and have remained vacant since that day.
The Salvation Army is collecting donations at their 105 Edward Street location to support those who lost most of their belongings in the collapse.
They are hoping to provide free clothing, bedding, and household items, in an effort to make everyone feel more comfortable.
Building tenants who have not been in contact are asked to reach out to the Salvation Army if they wish to receive assistance.
