The St. Thomas Police Service will be Freezin’ For A Reason this January and they’re inviting the entire community to take part!
Coming up January 30th, members of our local police service will join detachments across the province by taking part in the “Polar Plunge,” hosted annually by the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
That was Inspector Kim Manuel, who stopped by myFM with Constable Sean James to encourage some participation from our local residents. She explains exactly what that will entail.
And while they always receive significant support from members of the St. Thomas Fire Department and our local EMS, Constable James is putting a call out the greater business community to get involved.
As mentioned, all proceeds from the Polar Plunge will be channeled into providing vital programming and events for Special Olympics Ontario, an organization so dear to them notes Manuel.
James adds that St. Thomas Police have set a goal of raising $5000 locally, in support of the over 23,000 athletes across the province.
Those wishing to register for the St. Thomas event or make a donation in support of the cause, can visit soopolarplunge.ca.
The Polar Plunge will be taking place at a new location this year, thanks to a partnership with Railway City Brewing Company. Their location at 130 Edward Street will allow plungers and supporters to warm up and socialize after the event.
Registration and plunges begin at 4 p.m.
