Just before 11 a.m. an off-duty police officer was walking through Steen Park and encountered a male and female engaged in a heated domestic dispute.
When the officer attempted to diffuse the situation the male threatened the officer with a knife.
The accused then struck the female and threatened a bystander who attempted to intervene.
Aylmer police arrived on scene, located the male and took him into custody without issue.
He has been charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, weapons dangerous, fail to comply with an undertaking and domestic assault.
He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing before the courts Monday.
