The Aylmer Police Service have taken another step in ensuring resident’s safety with the launch of their new internet exchange zone.
The Safe Internet Exchange Zone will give the community a safe place to meet up when buying and selling items off of internet sites such as kijiji, Facebook Market Place, Buy and Swap pages, among others.
Aylmer Police invite citizens to utilize their parking lot and lobby for safe transactions under video surveillance, in an effort to increase seller legitimacy, increase public safety and reduce crime of theft or fraud.
“This initiative is in line with several other police agencies and is yet another example of community based policing initiatives we are able to offer to our community” said Deputy Chief Kyle Johnstone.
The lobby and perimeter of the police station at 20 Beech St. East is covered by 24/7 video surveillance and will give both buyers and sellers, unknown to each other an increased level of safety and security.
