Today is Bell Let’s Talk Day, recognizing the fact that approximately 1.2 million children and young people in Canada are affected by mental illness.
Lori Hassall, Vice President of Services and Supports at CMHA Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services says this is a day to simply do what the title says, and that’s talk.
Hassall says Bell Let’s Talk Day shouldn’t be the only day to talk about mental health.
Because as Hassall adds, mental health is just as important as your physical health.
Did you know that 1 in 2 young people struggle alone with their mental health?
In Canada, 11.8% of people have had thoughts of suicide at some point in their life and half of Canadians will have faced some sort of mental health issue by the time they turn 40.
596,934 service interactions were received in 2023 at Kids Help Phone.
