The St. Thomas Police Service will be Freezin’ For A Reason tomorrow and the entire community is invited to take part!
Members of our local police service will join other detachments across the province by taking part in the “Polar Plunge”, which is hosted annually by the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
That was Inspector Kim Manuel, who stopped by myFM with Constable Sean James earlier this month to encourage participation. Manuel explains exactly what that will entail.
As mentioned, all proceeds from the Polar Plunge will be channeled into providing vital programming and events for Special Olympics Ontario, an organization so dear to them notes Manuel.
Constable James adds that St. Thomas Police have set a goal of raising $5000 locally, in support of the over 23,000 Special Olympic athletes across the province.
As of this morning, St. Thomas Police has reached $5,291 raised!
Those wishing to register for the St. Thomas event or make a donation in support of the cause, can visit soopolarplunge.ca.
The Polar Plunge will be set up in a new spot this year, thanks to a partnership with Railway City Brewing Company. Their location at 130 Edward Street will allow plungers and supporters to warm up and socialize after the event.
Registration and plunges start at 4 p.m.
