After a weekend away from their new home, the residents of The Station, the Indwell housing development at 16 Queen Street, were able to return to their units Monday afternoon.
The 45-unit building had to be evacuated Friday afternoon due to an explosion in a second-floor apartment.
Indwell regional manager Natasha Thuemler tells myFM the building was found to be structurally intact.
The priority now is to ensure the safety of those living there. That is the assurance from Thuemler.
Indwell owns and operates the 45-unit building known as The Station.
Cause of the explosion has been determined to be “improper use of compressed gas,” according to St. Thomas Fire Prevention Officer Kim Destun.
St. Thomas Police advised Monday that a 41-year-old St. Thomas resident faces several weapons and arson charges related to the explosion.
Thuemler would not comment on whether the individual was a resident of The Station.
