The St. Thomas Fire Department and the Alzheimer Society Southwest Partners will be hosting a special webinar on Wednesday.
Entitled Living Safely with Dementia in the Community: Interactions with Fire Services, panelists will share dementia-friendly fire prevention strategies to maintain a safe environment and promote independence within the home.
It will discuss proactive safety plans, setting guidelines, balancing safety and dignity and highlighting local safety resources.
The webinar will also outline what to do in case of a fire, strategies around hoarding, how to identify fire hazards and many more tips to improve fire safety at home for people living with dementia.
