It was an exciting day for 64 Special Olympic athletes from across London, St. Thomas and Middlesex on Monday as they jumped on a plane to the National Winter Games.
The boarding Lounge at the London International Airport was filled with positive energy, excitement and anticipation of athletes on their way to Calgary, to join the other 346 athletes and team members representing Ontario over the five-day Games.
Airport management were honoured to greet the athletes alongside members of law enforcement as part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run.
Scott McFadzean, president and CEO of the London International Airport, says “These athletes show inspiring dedication, courage and passion for sports. We’d like to thank them for choosing London Airport to begin their exciting journey, safe travels to Calgary and best of luck at the games!”
Good luck to all athletes as the games get underway today!
