The St. Thomas Police Service have officially rolled out the use of CamSafe, an upgraded and enhanced version of their existing camera registry program.
Similar to the earlier registry, Inspector Kim Manuel explains that CamSafe grants officers access to registered cameras in the city should a crime occur.
It’s 100% voluntary adds Manuel, who hopes to encourage participation throughout St. Thomas.
As far as what they’ll ask of you, Manuel says it’s pretty straight forward.
For those who may be concerned about granting access to personal cameras, Manuels ensures that officers will need further permissions to get any footage.
Manuel also gave a great example of when CamSafe may be utilized
